Introduction

All living things are made of cells, but not all cells are the same. As cells develop, they often specialize. This often involves having unique structures or multiples of certain structures or organelles. This specialization in structure determines the function of the cell.

 ðŸŽ¯ Learning Target

I am learning about cell specialization so I can describe the function of a cell by examining its structures.

What to Do

  1. Complete the Cell Sort activity
  2. Set up your notes like this (see image to the right)
  3. Form groups to fill out the mini posters about your assigned cell.
    1. Assign roles in your group (see slide 2: researcher/tech specialist, scribe, artist, materials specialist/fact checker)
    2. Use this website to research the cell and fill out the mini poster
    3. Hang the poster on the wall
    4. Do a gallery walk with your notebook and fill out all the information about each cell as you read the other posters.

What to Turn In

Review and highlight your notes. Compare with your table parter to make sure you have all the correct information. Then take the open-notes quiz below until you score at least a 3/4.
