CE BRIDGE SPANISH 3116 (LA)

Full Year - Grades 10, 11, 12

Prerequisite: Students must pass the AP Spanish Language and Culture exam with a score of 3, 4 or 5.

Please note that 3116, 3117 and 3118 rotate each school year. Students are encouraged to take the Spanish Bridge that is offered in ClassChoice.

3116:

This course considers the role that current film, media, and entertainment play in the Spanish-speaking world. Students in this course will be exposed to the historical and cultural perspectives presented through these media. Students will utilize interpretive communication skills (listening and reading) in order to speak and write in detail and in an organized way about events and experiences in various time frames, to confidently handle routine situations with an unexpected complication, and to share their point of view in writing and discussions on some complex cultural and historical issues.

3117:

This course considers how critical moments of change in the Spanish-speaking world have shaped the present by building new identities. Students will utilize interpretive communication skills (listening and reading) in order to speak and write in detail and in an organized way about events and experiences in various time frames, to confidently handle routine situations with an unexpected complication, and to share their point of view in writing and discussions on some complex cultural and historical issues.

3118:

Spanish 3118 is an upper division course where students will learn to analyze, interpret and respond critically to literature as the course moves from poetry and prose to film. Students will be taught to analyze how literary and cinematic techniques contribute to meaning, to see literature as a human experience, to respond critically with an analytical essay and to examine artistic works through a historical/cultural lens. Students will interpret texts with the goal of developing a repertoire of artistic devices to apply to their own unique projects of artistic expression, storytelling, and representation of the world.
