Introduction

 ðŸŽ¯Learning Target

I can investigate the movement of water in and out of cells by osmosis.

Watch this time-lapse video of produce at the grocery store--one group with a mister, the other without.

Why is there a difference between the misted vegetables and the un-misted ones? What happens at the cellular level to cause this? In this lab you will investigate this phenomenon and find answers to these questions.

What to Do

Day 1

Complete the lab in class. The lab sheets are shown below. On Day 1, you will complete the first part of Part 1: Potato Cores (#s 1-7) and Part 2: Onion Cells

Day 2

1. Copy the All-Class Data table onto your lab sheet and create a graph of the data according to the instructions.

2. Write a conclusion that answers the question: "What conditions cause water to move in and out of cells, and why?" Make sure you use a CER format (make a claim, give evidence, explain your reasoning)

3. Then take the quiz below.
